Please Discuss Issue #2

Please Discuss is a collection of stream of consciousness drawings, musings and stories drawn and written by Scott M. Endres. Issue #2 features a collection of original drawings and what I'm calling "First Pages". I've always loved the first page of a novel. The intrigue, the mystery, the promise of what's to come. In January of 2020 I had a dream where I was one of the cadre of the mid-to-late 19th century and early 20th century weird fiction and ghost story tellers ala MR James, Arthur Machen, Algernon Blackwood, etc. In this dream I was creating a story via stream of consciousness and telling it to a group of people over a nice living room fire. Though this was happening in my own subconscious, I woke up excited and wrote down what I remembered. I woke the next day only to find that all I'd written down was one phrase, but I remembered the feeling of it, so I set down to write it out...keeping the same rule I use for my illustrations: Don't plan ahead, just let it flow out of you. And just like with the dream and my waking from it, I cut the story off before the second page, though this time intentionally. This gave birth to the idea that a collection of "first pages" would be as exciting and entertaining as it was frustrating and uncomfortable...which if I'm being honest is the goal of much of my art.
